There have been outpourings of kindness and generosity toward law enforcement across the state of Iowa since the tragic, ambush-style shootings of Urbandale Officer Justin Martin and Des Moines Police Department Sgt. Tony Beminio early in the morning of Nov. 2. To honor those officers, on Tuesday, Nov. 15, Hy-Vee presented a check in the amount of $188,000 to the Des Moines Police Officer’s Credit Union. Donations were collected from customers from Nov. 2 through Nov. 6 at the Des Moines area stores and Hy-Vee added a donation of $50,000 to the total.
