Hundreds Of Law Enforcement Officers Attend Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin’s Funeral

Fallen Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin’s funeral services at the South Central Calhoun Middle School in Rockwell City drew hundreds from all corners of Iowa and from across the country. The western bleachers were filled with law enforcement officers and so many attended that space needed to be made in entryways and the adjacent auditorium. Randy Martin, Justin’s father, was shocked by the support from the community and nation, and he hopes people can learn from it.

After the funeral services, the procession to Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City took nearly an hour to make the almost three mile trip due to the number of law enforcement vehicles. Martin says he now truly understands what it means to be part of the police family.

It was a similar scene at Des Moines Sgt. Anthony Beminio’s funeral on Monday. Both officers were killed in ambush-style attacks in the line of duty last Wednesday, Nov. 2. The suspect, 46-year-old Scott Michael Greene, of Urbandale, is now in police custody and has been charged with two counts of first degree murder. One final call went out for Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin, badge number 1140.
