Help The Community Of Concern ‘Sleigh Hunger’ This Weekend

The Community of Concern is setting out to “Sleigh Hunger” by hosting a food and essentials collection drive this weekend, and they are using an interesting way to hold all of the donations. On Saturday, Dec. 17, and Sunday, Dec. 18, a working 1920’s horse-drawn sleigh will be in the east parking lot of the Carroll Walmart from noon to 5 p.m. each day for people to drop off items. A volunteer with Community of Concern, Mary Baumhover, says the number of people in need is higher than many expect.

The organization is looking for many different types of donations. She says money is always helpful to pay for operating costs, but they are also accepting canned food, pudding, jello, jelly and pancake mix. Essentials are also needed like toilet paper, soap products, toothbrushes and toothpaste. According to Baumhover, small donations like these are enough to help people through difficult times.

Families donating to the Sleigh Hunger drive can take pictures in the sleigh for a wonderful holiday photo, and the Community of Concern will have carolers out spreading Christmas joy during the event. Donations can always be dropped off at the Community of Concern offices from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, at 203 North Highway 71 in Carroll.
