The first Kuemper Alumni party with a purpose, Harvest for Hope, is coming up on Friday, Aug, 5, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Carrollton Inn, and organizers are busy finding ways to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. All of the funds raised will be going to a very special youth-centered facility, Wildwood Hills Ranch near St. Charles. This 400-acre working ranch will serve over 1,200 at-risk youth from eight to 18 this year by helping them get through the neglect or abuse they have endured and to give them hope for a future. Tony Thelen, a member of the Kuemper Class of 1986 who are hosting the event said that there will be a variety of options available at Harvest for Hope for people to give. Live and silent auctions will be taking place over the course of the evening with some impressive prize packages available.
There will also be tickets to see Blake Shelton auctioned off at the event along with a four-hour guided fishing tour on Lake Okoboji and lighted Budweiser signs. Thelen said many sports organizations have stepped up and donated access or items to help out their cause.
Local entities have been very supportive of Harvest for Hope and other items that will be up for auction include car detailing, custom jewelry pieces, live theater tickets, trees, Templeton Rye memorabilia, restaurant vouchers, sky box tickets to the John Deere Classic and much, much more.
