Hallett Materials Of Wall Lake To Be Honored For Land Donation

Hallett Materials of Wall Lake will be recognized by the State of Iowa for a donation of 313 acres of Sac County land to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. The parcel of land lies along a stretch of the North Raccoon River that is listed on Iowa’s Impaired Waters list. The land, which Hallett Materials acquired in 2002, was transferred in a 2015 bargain sale as a protection to help improve water quality along this major source of drinking water for the Des Moines metropolitan area. This area also provides significant public hunting and fishing opportunities. A special ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 24, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in room 116 at the State Capitol in Des Moines. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is scheduled to attend. In total, over $10 million dollars in value of more than 4,500 acres of land across 15 Iowa counties has been donated and all landowners in attendance will be honored.
