Grassley Holds Firm After Meeting With Supreme Court Nominee

Senator Chuck Grassley met with President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, via phone yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:19 p.m. Grassley said after congratulating Garland on the nomination, he iterated the position of the Senate majority that they will give the American people a voice and an opportunity this year to debate the role of the Supreme Court in our system of government. Grassley added, that will be the same position he will hold if an in-person meeting is scheduled in the future. Garland is the chief justice of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. His nomination was announced by President Obama yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
