Gov. Branstad To Visit AMVC In Audubon Friday

On Friday, July 8, Audubon-Manning Veterinary Clinic, known as AMVC, will be hosting a special guest in their Audubon location. From 9 to 10 a.m., Gov. Terry Branstad will be on hand to get an overview of the business through a presentation and campus tour. Dr. Jason Hocker, a veterinarian with AMVC, said they were pleased to be the spotlight business to welcome the governor after Audubon County Economic Development accepted an invitation for a visit.

AMVC employs about 525 people in multiple states and approximately 125 in the Audubon area in a variety of positions, from veterinarians to employees at hog confinement facilities. Hocker said they hope to share the benefits and challenges of operating businesses in the rural areas of the state.

Hocker added that one of the major issues they want to bring to Gov. Branstad’s attention is the impact that some legislation may have in rural communities that differs greatly from the effect it has on urban areas.

More than anything, Hocker stressed, they want to share their business and their presence in the area and to let the governor know they appreciate the support they get from the legislature and the leaders in Des Moines. Stay tuned to Carroll Broadcasting on Friday, July 8, for more on the governor’s visit to Audubon.
