Geminid Meteor Shower Will Be Visible Tonight And Tomorrow Evening

Tonight marks the beginning of the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, and stargazers are looking forward to experiencing nature’s lightshow. Carroll County Conservation Naturalist, Matt Wetrich, says this event can be seen only once per year.

Unfortunately, the moon will be full during the two evening shower, so Wetrich says it will take a little extra effort to get the best view of the falling stars.

According to Wetrich, one of the best locations to view the meteor shower is in Whiterock Conservancy near Coon Rapids.

Light created by the meteor shower is actually just small particles of dust burning up as they enter Earth’s atmosphere. The meteor shower will be relatively slow-paced tonight, and the best time to view it will be in the late evening on Dec. 13 or early morning, Dec. 14.
