“Friendraiser” Walks Celebrate Older Americans Month

In honor of Older Americans Month, the Iowa Area Agencies on Aging are introducing their theme, “Blazing a Trail for Aging,” by hosting statewide “friendraiser” walks. The Elderbridge Agency on Aging is hosting 10 walks in our area, including a Carroll County walk on Thursday, May 26, in Manning. Participants will be asked to check-in at the Warren Timmerman Shelter House in Manning City Park at 9 a.m. A short program will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the walkers taking to the paths at 10 a.m. According to Elderbridge Co-Executive Director, Donell Doering, this is a way for communities to come together in a free event that celebrates the strength and vitality of our older Americans and raises awareness on aging issues. Prior to participation, everyone will be required to sign a registration/release form, which are available by contacting Lila Schroeder at 712-655-2061 or at the Elderbridge Carroll offices located at 603 N. West Street.
