Four-Car Pile Up In Glidden Tuesday

The Iowa State Patrol responded to a four-vehicle accident at approximately 5:45 p.m. last night (Tuesday) at the intersection of Highway 30 and Timber Ave. in Glidden. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 20-year-old Ashley Nicole Schultes of Dedham, was stopped in the westbound lane of Highway 30 to turn left onto Timber Ave. Forty-six-year-old Leon Frederick Shoenfeld of Carroll was slowing his 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 to a stop behind the Schultes vehicle, as was a 2016 Ford F350, driven by 62-year-old James Franklin Nelson of Jefferson. The fourth vehicle, a 2011 Buick Regal, driven by 22-year-old Ellie Eileen Straw of Winthrop, did not slow or stop for the cars in front of her and rear ended the Nelson vehicle. The Nelson pickup was pushed into the Shoenfeld truck, which in turn struck the Schultes vehicle. Schultes and Straw complained of possible injuries, but were not transported for treatment. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage to the Schultes Impala, the Nelson Ford and the Schoenfeld Dodge. Damage to the Straw vehicle was estimated at $20,000. Straw was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to a Reasonable and Proper Rate. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
