Fire Up for Fun in Halbur this Saturday; proceeds benefit Fire Station project

This Saturday the community of Halbur will be fired up to have some fun at the Halbur School Gym during the Fire Up for Fun event. The proceeds will go towards building a new Fire Station, and Fire Chief Glenn Dentlinger, who has been with the department for 41 years, says the current building dates back to 1945 and they’re running out of space for today’s larger equipment.

Many games and activities for all ages will be featured at the event including bingo, an art table, both indoor and outdoor games which include Human Foosball. People can also sign up to show off their skills in a Talent Show as well, and Organizer Jeff Dentlinger adds there’s other great talent which can found on display in donated items for the silent auction which include an original pen & ink drawing, a personalized outdoor name stand, food items, and much more.

Festivities will begin at 3:00 pm, with silent auction bidding ending at 6:15 pm, and everything will wrap up by 7:00 pm. The Fired Up for Fun event was awarded a $500 Community Outreach Grant by the Iowa Education Association in order to assist the Halbur Fire Department fundraising project. Jeff Dentlinger adds it’s great to see everyone from all walks of life helping out the cause in any way they can.
