Filing Deadline For County Offices Opens Monday

This year’s high-profile candidates for the Presidential election will likely bring out record numbers of voters, a benefit to state and local races as well. Filing deadlines are approaching for some of these, and those interested in running for office are frequently seen out and about in their communities asking for the signatures required to get their name on the ballot. The filing period for candidates running for state and federal offices opened Monday, Feb. 29 and will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 18. County office filings will be open from Monday, March 7 to Wednesday, March 30 at 5 p.m. For those running in non-partisan offices in the November election, the filing period will open on Monday, Aug. 8 and close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Candidates running for county offices must collect signatures from two percent of the 2014 vote for the governor candidate of the party in the county or supervisor’s district or 100 signatures, whichever is less. A full listing of the state and federal filings can be found by following the link below. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you a full list of area county filings with the period closing on March 30.
