Emerald Ash Borer Confirmed In Adams And Adair Counties

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has announced they have confirmed larvae of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in both Adair and Adams Counties. This brings the total number of Iowa counties with verified infestations to 38. Nine counties have been added to this list so far this year. The most recent discoveries took place at Lake Orient Recreation Area in Adair County and in a rural area north of Cromwell in Adams County. Mike Kintner, the EAB and gypsy moth coordinator for the department says it is difficult to battle this invasive insect. The most important preventative measure is to avoid transporting firewood.
