Driver Treated For Injuries In Two-Vehicle Accident

A two-vehicle accident in Jefferson last Friday resulted in injuries to one driver. The Jefferson Police Department responded to Russell and Vine Streets to find a 1999 Toyota Camry, owned by Melinda Gallagher and operated by Alison Gallagher of Jefferson, had failed to obey a yield sign on northbound Vine at the intersection with Russell. A 2000 Chevy Avalanche, owned and operated by Tyler Lowmiller of Jefferson, was westbound on Russell and struck in the driver-side door by the Gallagher vehicle. Gallagher continued over the curb, striking a tree in the northwest corner of the intersection. Gallagher was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of possible injuries. The Lowmiller vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages and the Gallagher vehicle was a total loss. Gallagher was cited for Failure to Obey a Yield Sign.
