The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has reported a fisherman died Tuesday evening after falling from his boat on the Cedar River near Charles City. The small boat was anchored just above the low-head dam at approximately 7 p.m. when the occupant apparently fell overboard and over the dam. The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was pulled from the river downstream of the dam by Charles City Fire and Rescue and taken to the Floyd County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Charles City Police Department and Floyd County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
