District 12’s Republican Iowa House Candidate, Brian Best, Seeks To Strengthen Rural Iowa

This year’s race for the District 12 Iowa House seat is one of the contested election in our area, and Republican incumbent and Glidden native, Brian Best, is again seeking to serve as a state congressman. First taking office in 2015, he says working in government was quite a change, but he adapted to serve his constituents.

Urban migration has seen rural populations slowly erode, and Best says the easiest way to stop this is to make the economy a priority.

Area school districts have seen a decline in students, resulting in a decrease in available funds. Best sees the answer in less government involvement in school decision making.

Schools have different accounts to be used for only certain costs. Schools can have a surplus in one account that cannot be used to cover a deficit in another. He says these issues are why he continues to seek District 12’s Iowa House seat.

Best served as Vice-Chair of the Transportation Committee during his first term, as well as a member on the Health and Human Services Budget, Human Resources, Economic Development and the Natural Resources Committees. Best is being challenged for his seat by Democratic candidate, Ken Myers. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from candidates in upcoming broadcasts.
