Community Encouraged To Donate At CHS Blood Drive

Blood donations are always in need and the Student Senate at Carroll High School (CHS) is ready to answer the call with their fall CHS Blood Drive. The event is organized by Carroll students and Life Serve provides the blood drawing services. Mariah Clausen and Karlee Jones, two students helping to organize the event, say the community has always turned up in droves. Each semester’s blood drive averages about 200 pints of blood each time it is held. To donate, a person must be at least 16 years of age and have parental consent if it is their first time donating, weigh at least 120 pounds and be in generally good health. Life Serve offers a $750 dollar scholarship to students helping organize an event, and CHS is in the running to receive the scholarship nearly every year. There will be snacks and drinks for donors to enjoy after offering blood at the drive. The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the CHS gymnasium. The average wait time for a donor is estimated at 20 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can be made by calling the CHS Office at 792-8010.
