City Asks For Community Input On Preliminary Library And City Hall Plans

Danielle Hermann, the OPN Architects partner in charge of the assessment for the Carroll Library/City Hall project was present last week to present the basic footprint options for location of the library in either the current city hall or to have it moved to the Commercial Savings Bank building on North Adams Street. Her team has also worked up options for the moving of city hall offices to that building as well as what it would look like to keep them in the current building. At that meeting, she provided details about where they were at in the overall process.

The OPN Architect for the project, Joe Feldmann, who is originally from Carroll, said they want to hone in on just two options for the library and two for city hall that can then be preliminarily cost-estimated then brought back to Carroll for review.

The city of Carroll is also asking that the community play an active role by reviewing the plans that OPN has brought forward and providing feedback. A copy of the entire presentation made by OPN on Tuesday night is available at the Carroll Public Library. Comments are welcome and can be sent to the attention of Randy Krauel at City Hall, 112 E. 5th Street in Carroll or by emailing him at rkrauel@cityofcarroll.com. The comment period will remain open until Thursday, Oct. 6, at which time they will be forwarded to the architects. OPN will then be back with the conceptual plans that have been identified as the best fit based on the feedback. They are planning to present those results on Monday, Oct. 17, at 6:15 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
