Catholic Schools Week Kicks-Off At Kuemper Today

Catholic Schools Week kicks-off this morning (Friday), introducing the national theme of Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. There are a host of activities planned from now through next Friday, the ideas for which Kuemper Catholic School System President, John Steffes, said comes from a collaborative effort. The staff gets input from the students and then comes together to plan a week that not only showcases their school but celebrates their Catholic Faith. Steffes said one of his favorite activities will take place next Friday, Feb. 5 when the St. Lawrence students come to Holy Spirit Church for the All-School Mass.

He said one of the most popular activities for the younger kids is when they get to share their school experience, if only for a little bit, at the Donuts with Dad and Mornings with Mom breakfasts on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The physical activities are the ones that the older kids seem to gravitate toward, with Cage Ball being the favorite of the St. Lawrence students. Steffes said that everyone, from the oldest to the youngest of the Kuemper family is included in the weeks’ events.

And for the parents of first-time students, they will be holding their kindergarten informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Holy Spirit. Steffes said they will be answering questions, from the curriculum, uniforms, prayer time and the expectations to financial aid. If parents can’t make it that evening, he said, they can call and make other arrangements. This celebratory week is a lot of fun for everyone, Steffes said, but it goes much deeper than just fun and games.

Kindergarten Informational Meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family on Wednesday, Feb. 3. A full listing of all other activities taking place throughout the week can be found by following the link below.
