Carroll Rotary Hosting The Fundraiser Of The Year This Weekend

This Sunday, Jan. 24, the Rotary Club of Carroll will be hosting the Be a Gift to the World Fundraiser at the Swan Lake Conservation Center. Doors for the poker tournament will open at 11:30 with the event beginning at noon. Rotary member, Bob Fasbender, says the poker tournament, football squares, Super Bowl brackets and raffle are their major fundraising event for the year.

He said that the major goal of the rotary is to eradicate polio and they have recently joined the Carroll Chamber of Commerce to continue their work toward fulfilling that goal. They are also committed to giving back to the community.

Their community outreach does not stop there.

Fasbender said that if there are 50 people or more that sign up for the poker tournament there will be a $1,000 payout; and the more people the higher that number will go. Football squares are sold for $5 with a chance to win $50 each quarter. There are a large number of raffle prizes that will be given away on Sunday, including gift certificates from Sound and Service Rodan Fields Skincare, Computer Concepts, Lakeshore Cyclery in Storm Lake and Valero. There is also the chance to win a mini-iPad, monthly membership with one-on-one Crossfit, oil changes and more. Tickets are available at Michael’s Shoes in downtown Carroll or at the door on Sunday. You need not be present to win any of the raffle prizes.
