Fifty-six-year-old Carol Jane Roetker of Carroll was killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon at approximately 1:53 p.m. on Highway 71, south of 180th Street, near Agri-bolt north of Carroll. Roetker was a passenger in a 2009 Honda Civic, driven by 39-year-old Debra Kay Clausen of Carroll that was driving northbound on 71 when it was struck head-on by a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 23-year-old Kera Ann Shriver of Jefferson who was traveling south on Highway 71. The Carroll Fire Department was called to the scene for mechanical extraction of the individuals. Shriver and Clausen were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Services for treatment of injuries and later air-lifted to a Des Moines Hospital. Roetker was pronounced dead at the scene. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Carroll Police Department and the Breda Fire Department assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
