Carroll Public Library Director, Brandie Ledford, Resigns

Carroll Public Library Director, Brandie Ledford, made a stunning announcement yesterday (Monday), as she tendered her resignation to the Library Board of Trustees. She said this move comes as her husband, Adam Ledford, accepted a position as City Administrator in Marion, Ky. Adam is the current City Administrator for Sac City. She said their original plan was for her to stay here with the couple’s eight-year-old son, Charlie, until the end of the school year and to manage the selling of their home. That sale, however, happened much faster than either of the Ledford’s anticipated.

Ledford said it will be nice to move to a community that is much closer to her family and her hometown of Harrisburg, Ill., but she does not have a position waiting for her in the Marion area.

With the library expansion so close to fruition after more than a decade of work, Ledford said she is proud of where they are at today, and sorry that she will be leaving before seeing it finalized.

She will, however, be thrilled to come back and celebrate the finished library in the very near future. Ledford added that she is also proud of improving the technology and increasing the programs offered through the library. She said her entire team has really thought outside of the box to bring fun, educational programs to children and adults alike. Ledford, who has been the director since June of 2014, said the effective date of her resignation is very dependent on the closing dates for both houses, but she told the trustees that she wants to give them at least seven weeks to help with the hiring and transition of a new director. This would put that transition at the end of December.
