Carroll Community School District Investigating Cyber Bullying of Gay Student

The Carroll Community School District administration is conducting an investigation after learning that several football players were involved in a group chat on Friday night that was demeaning to a gay student. On Monday, officials at Carroll High School interviewed students about texts regarding the gay student’s inclusion in the homecoming court. The messages included comments telling the gay student to kill himself or die and that players would leave the team and the school if he didn’t leave the homecoming court. Although the investigation is ongoing, Superintendent, Rob Cordes, has said the students are already regretting their actions. The district is still considering appropriate punishments for students involved and looking into using this as a teachable moment on tolerance for all students. Carroll Broadcasting has reached out to the Carroll Community School District administration and will bring you more on this situation in upcoming broadcasts.
