Carroll City Council Generating Dialogue

During last fall’s city council elections, there was a recurring theme among all candidates regarding the need for more open and productive communication amongst themselves as well as with community members. So far this year, there have only been two Carroll City Council meetings, but City Manager, Gerald Clausen, believes he is already seeing changes that reflect the points made during the campaign.

Clausen said he has been pleased with the changes that have led to better communication and better attitudes. He hopes that the council will continue to work together to communicate this way into the future.

The last meeting, held on Jan. 25, was an unusually long one that lasted over four hours. Clausen noted that not once did he see anyone looking at their watches or giving any other indication they were wanting to cut the meeting short. He said it really isn’t about the length of time that is important to this group, but what is going on in that time. And, it all works better when everyone is playing on an equal level. The next Carroll City Council meeting will be Monday, Feb. 8 beginning at 5:15 p.m. with a tour of the work being done at the Carroll Rec Center. Following the tour they will reconvene in the council chambers at City Hall.
