Three Carroll teenagers are starting to see the results of several years of hard work as their band, Bad Authority, has landed contracts as opening acts for two classic rock legends. At the end of this month, guitarist Kyler Brinker, drummer Ted Raemakers and bassist Miles Millard are getting 45 minutes on the Steve Miller ticket at Shellabration in Fort Dodge. And, just recently, they have announced they will be one of the opening acts for Ted Nugent on Aug. 2, at the Val Air Ballroom in Des Moines. For all three band members, and in-particular Millard, this appearance has some very special meaning.
That was not the only time they would attend a Nugent concert. At one in Omaha, they even managed to get backstage. Though Nugent had already caught a plane out of town, they were able to get tips on gear and advice on never giving up on their dream from his band members. Brinker had a prior relationship with the Val Air concert promoter, Chris Cardani, and he reached out to him immediately in early April upon hearing the venue was working to put together a Nugent concert.
Raemakers pointed out, however, that this opportunity was not just handed to them, and they will also be working to rally their fan base into traveling to the show and will be personally selling tickets.
Raemakers added that the ticket sales gives them the opportunity to get to know more people as well as having those people get to know them. They will even deliver tickets to fans in the area.
