Car Starts On Fire In Two-Vehicle Accident Near Grand Junction

At approximately 5:02 p.m. Saturday evening, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of T Av. And 250th Street south of Grand Junction. A 2003 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 16-year-old Bryce Eugene Hoyle of rural Grand Junction, was southbound on T Ave. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pulling a 2008 H & H Trailer, driven by 52-year-old John Wade Leonard of Carroll was westbound on 250th and struck the Hoyle vehicle in the intersection. Hoyle’s vehicle ended up in the south west ditch and he was able to escape with only a minor knee injury before the car started on fire. Leonard was uninjured, but his pickup sustained major damage. Leonard was issued a citation for failure to yield to the right.
