On Monday, May 2, A former Albert City resident was sentenced in Buena Vista District Court to no more than five years in prison for lascivious acts with a child. Thirty-three-year-old Barbara Barnett, also known as Barbara Meseck, pled guilty to the charges after admitting to performing oral sex on a 12-year-old child in December of 2015 at a residence in Albert City. Barnett will also serve no less than 10 years on parole and will be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for 10 years after her release. In addition, she will have restrictions on her residence, employment and travel.
