Incumbent Republican Brian Best faced off against Carroll County Deputy, Ken Myers, for the District 12 Iowa House of Representative’s seat in yesterday’s election. He will remain as the district’s representative for another term with the 20 precincts recording votes of 10,334 for Best, 4,539 for his Democratic opponent Myers and eight write-ins. Best said he is humbled to be re-elected, and that it is about more than just party lines for the people of the district.
He said his opponent, Myers, ran a good campaign and he congratulated him on the race and for putting himself out there to run for office.
Best added that what he has seen take place on the local, state and national level is an eye opener and that the polls are not the last word, the vote of the people truly does count.
