Behind on energy bills? MidAmerican customers encouraged to call in

During the coldest months of the year qualified low-income MidAmerican Energy customers are never disconnected from vital services which allow families to stay safe and warm, but as of Friday, April 1, that guarantee came to an end. Vice President of customer service, Terry Ousley, says the moratorium, which protects eligible customers from disconnection for non-payment is valid from November 1 through April 1, and now that the period has ended some customers may find themselves in tough financial situations. He encourages those who are concerned about paying their bills to call 888-427-5632 to learn more about a variety of MidAmerican Energy payment options, payment agreements, and available budget billing.

The end of the moratorium also signals the start of when scammers begin preying on energy customers. In order to protect yourself be aware that scammers will often try to collect money by posing as an energy employee. The scammer will threaten to instantly shut of a person’s power unless an immediate payment is made using a credit card or pre-paid debit card. Don’t let yourself be fooled and hang up on any suspicious calls then report the scammer to local police and MidAmerican Energy. When in doubt hang up the phone and call in to MidAmerican at 888-427-5632 to check the status of your account. To learn more visit the company’s website to learn more about payment options.
