The Bakken Pipeline Resistance Coalition and Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (ICCI) are meeting in Boone on Thursday, Sept. 22, to mobilize and ramp up their movement to stop construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. The pipeline construction is already complete in South Dakota and Illinois. The group will be rallying between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Boone County Fairgrounds to conduct training sessions on non-violent civil disobedience and to carry out a creative direct action to continue building public awareness. Last week, the Obama Administration asked Dakota Access to voluntarily halt construction of the pipeline within 20 miles of Lake Oahe in North Dakota. At this mobilization, Iowan’s and their Midwest allies will call upon the administration to take that a step further and halt construction permanently in the state.
