Area Unemployment Rate Up Slightly Over Same Time Last Year

The seven-county Western Iowa Advantage region has seen an unemployment rate increase of nearly one percent from 3 to 3.8 percent in August of 2016 over the same time period last year. The figures, released by Iowa Workforce Development show the state rate up as well from 3.6 percent in 2015 to 4.2 percent in 2016. In the region, Sac County recorded the lowest rates at 3 percent with Carroll County close behind at 3.1. Adair, Guthrie and Audubon Counties reported in the mid threes at 3.4, 3.6 and 3.7 percent respectively while Greene and Crawford Counties reported the highest rates at 4.3 percent in Greene and Crawford County remains steady at last month’s reported 5.2 percent.
