ALS Association Announces New Campaign To Carry On Ice Bucket Challenge

Recent news reports have touted the success of the ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge that began in 2014 and how the more than $220 million raised has helped scientists isolate a gene that may be responsible for the disease. Last week the national and Iowa chapter of the ALS Association announced the launch of a new campaign to finish what they have started. The goal, they say, is simple: to end amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The “Every Drop Adds Up” campaign pays homage to the Ice Bucket Challenge, emphasizing the now iconic “bucket,” and builds on the idea that when people come together, they can make big, impossible things happen. Co-founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Pat Quinn, said that in 2015, he accepted a Webby Award for the initiative, and was only allowed five words in his acceptance speech. He chose to say, “Every August Until A Cure.” He explained that it is every contribution, no matter how large or small that brings awareness and helps gain ground in the search for a cure, because, “every step makes a difference and Every Drop Adds Up!” For more information, follow the link below.
