Al Roker Is Keynote Speaker For 20th Annual Bishop’s Dinner

The annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools in the Sioux City Diocese will be taking place Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Sioux City Convention Center, and the Catholic School Foundation is pleased to announce a national television personality will be the keynote speaker. Al Roker of NBC News’ Today will bring his engaging personality and energy to the 20th anniversary of the event. Bishop R. Walker Nickless said, “Roker knows firsthand what it takes to raise a strong, loving, faith-filled family,” and he is thrilled Roker will be delivering the keynote address at the dinner. Roker has been with the Today show as the weather and feature anchor for over 20 years and also serves as the co-host of the morning show, Wake Up with Al on the Weather Channel. In addition to television, Roker is a best-selling author of four books, including his most recent, Been There, Done That: Family Wisdom for Modern Times, which was co-authored by his wife, Deborah Roberts. The Bishop’s Dinner is the largest fundraiser for the Diocese, benefitting 16 schools throughout northwest Iowa. Last year, the dinner raised nearly $200,000 with 100 percent of the proceeds distributed back to the schools. Tickets for the Bishop’s Dinner will go on sale Aug. 15, and can be purchased by following this link: Sioux City Diocese, or by calling the Sioux City Diocese at 712-255-7933.
