Tomorrow (Saturday), the Annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools in the Sioux City Diocese, the biggest fundraiser of the year, will feature Al Roker of NBC News’ Today show as the keynote speaker. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event that will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sioux City Convention Center and Bishop R. Walker Nickless is pleased that Roker has been chosen to deliver the message for this special occasion. He says that Roker has firsthand knowledge of what sacrifices it takes to raise a strong, loving and faith-filled family and he is thrilled he will be able to share that message with dinner guests. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from the dinner, which neared the $200,000 mark last year, are distributed back to the 16 schools across northwest Iowa in the diocese, including the Kuemper Catholic School System. Roker has been a fixture on the Today show for over 20 years and is co-host of Wake Up with Al on the Weather Channel as well as being a best-selling author.
