Absentee Voting Opens Today For Greene County Special School Election

Greene County Auditor, Jane Huen, has announced that beginning today (Thursday), voters may begin submitting absentee ballots in the special school election. The ballots are in for the Sept. 13 election that includes a $19.4 million bond for additions to Greene County Schools’ elementary and high school buildings as well as a contested race to fill a vacancy on the Greene County Schools Board of Education. An interim board member, Mike Dennhardt, was appointed to fill the position in January after it was vacated by Susan Burkett. The special election will be for the completion of the term in 2017. Dennhardt has put in an official bid for the seat and is being opposed by Jonathon Hinote. Absentee ballot requests can be made at the Greene County Auditor’s Office or they can be found by following the link below. Voting in the Sept. 13 special election will take place in Clover Hall at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, in Scranton’s City Hall, St. Brigid’s Parish Center in Grand Junction or at the Rippey Community Center, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at all locations.
