St. Anthony Receives Excellence Award

St. Anthony Regional Hospital has been named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates. The award recognizes top-performing healthcare organizations that have consistently achieved a performance ranking in the 95th percentile or above for patient experiences. Director of Quality Management, Barb Toohey, said each patient receives a survey in the mail after being released from the hospital, and based on that feedback, the staff forms teams to attempt to better understand their scores. The people who have really made a difference, Toohey added, are those at the patient’s bedside, including doctors, nurses, clinicians, volunteers, food and nutrition experts, housekeepers, maintenance and many more. The Press Ganey survey measures the patient experience in 11 categories ranging from staff courtesy to pain management and discharge planning. St. Anthony CEO, Ed Smith, says this award represents important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring and understanding the patient experience and that excellence in patient care is a journey, not a destination. Though he is extremely proud of what they have achieved, Smith said it is imperative they continue to take strides to be leaders in healthcare and a place where patients know they will receive quality, compassionate care.
