Santorum Says He Was Tea Party Before There Was A Tea Party

Presidential Candidate, former Governor of Pennsylvania Rick Santorum, told Carroll area residents that he was Tea Party before the Tea Party existed, and he believes that as a constitutionalist, he has differentiated himself from the other Republican Presidential candidates. One of the first questions he broached in his Thursday night town hall meeting at Santa Maria Wine came from his constitutionalist position on the national debt and how Congress has lost control of the purse strings.

Santorum was quick to share details about how he would handle a variety of issues, but when asked what would be a priority, day one in office if elected, he didn’t hesitate a second to outline his focus.

He added, however, there were many other issues that needed immediate attention here at home, including reviewing all the executive orders and all regulations that exceed the President’s authority and cost the American people billions of dollars. He would repeal those immediately. Santorum added that when it comes to getting his position and views out to the American public, he is disappointed with the way the Republican National Committee has approached the debates. However, he says he trusts the American people to choose based on substance, not flash and controversy.

We will have more from Santorum on renewable fuels, his tax plan, border security and the separation of powers in the federal government in upcoming Carroll Broadcasting reports. The full town hall meeting audio can be found below.
