Proposed Changes if West Central Farmers Coop Merger Approved

West Central Cooperative and Farmers Cooperative Company boards have come together and recommended a merger to their member owners. The unification process will now move to the members for their vote on the proposal, and they will be receiving informational packets in the next couple of weeks that will be detailing the specifics of the merger. Milan Kucerak, West Central’s CEO, said leadership has already made some decisions about what the structure of a new cooperative will look like.

Approval of the merger would not change the valuation of member equity, as it will roll over on a one-for-one basis. The proposal also placed company headquarters in Ames with Kucerak named Chief Executive Officer of the new cooperative. In the informational packets being distributed to members of both cooperatives, voting instructions and ballots will also be included. The votes will be tabulated in a special meeting on Dec. 18, and Kucerak said, if approved, the merger would take place quickly.

The unanimous approval of both cooperative boards after due diligence and recommendations from outside consultants was a signal of how much these leaders believe is to be gained by members and employees in unification.

FC and West Central will be hosting a minimum of 20 member meetings between Nov. 30 and Dec. 11. A list of meeting times and locations as well as informational videos from both cooperatives can be found online at wccgrow15.com or fcgrow15.com.
