Prom Closet To Open Doors For Second Year

Newest 2016 Prom Closet flyer

After an inaugural year that surpassed everyone’s expectations, Jodi Wittry, Kay Walters, Donna Kinnick, Ann Dentlinger and Gail Daniel are excited to open the door for the second annual Prom Closet at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish Hall in Glidden. The project was born after the group learned girls were eager to help out others by sharing their dresses, shoes and jewelry for area proms. They accepted donations and offered them to anyone looking for free dresses and accessories. The first year saw grandmothers, mothers and daughters brought to tears when the young women stepped out of those dressing rooms wearing the dress of their dreams. Margaret Saddoris said her daughter Emma was skeptical when she first heard about The Prom Closet, but was impressed with the selection and pleased with what she found. Margaret was so pleased, she chose to make a donation to the St. Elizabeth Seton CCD program. The Prom Closet will be hosting their Free Shopping Days at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Glidden from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 2 and Jan. 9. Though the shopping days are a few months away, the group is currently accepting donations of clean, gently used gowns, shoes and accessories. These items may be dropped off at the church before 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturdays, delivered to the Iowa Savings Bank Glidden branch or by contacting one of the organizers to schedule delivery or pickup. To schedule an appointment for the January shopping days, you can also contact one of the organizers from the list of numbers included with this story on our website.
