Is Your Vehicle Ready For Winter?

The snow season is here and Thanksgiving travel will start soon, are you prepared? State Farm is urging everyone to plan ahead for safety now by getting rid of the “junk” in their trunk and loading it with items that will be needed in the event of a roadside emergency. They recommend an emergency kit be created that includes a hazard triangle with reflectors, a first aid kit, jumper cables, windshield scarper and brush, a tow strap, blankets and extra warm clothing, don’t forget a cell phone charger, road salt or cat litter, a bright flag or help sign, flashlights with working batteries, a tarp, a small took kit or multi-tool, duct tape, high-calorie non-perishable food, water and crucial medications. Store these items in a bag, box or tub with a lid to prevent them from becoming projectiles and making them easier to locate when needed. They also recommend checking to make sure your spare tire has air and that the jack and lug wrench are in the vehicle. Don’t forget the teen drivers, help them assemble their own kit and discuss how items should be used in an emergency. If you already have a travel kit in the car, now is the time to make sure everything is working and that the food and medications have not expired.
