Iowa Ranks High In Best Places To Live

A lot of people complain about where they live, but a recent study reveals that you may really have it better than you think. In order to rank states, people’s preferences for safety, education, weather, entertainment and the local economy were factored by comparing things like unemployment rates, median income, housing, crime and commute times. It’s no surprise that the Midwest ranked high, with Iowa coming in second, Nebraska narrowly taking the top spot. Nebraska racked up a higher adjusted household income of $57,000 a year, just over the $51,000 reported for Iowa, which ranked fifth highest in the nation. A bonus is that those salaries go further in Iowa than in many other states. Only 8.5 percent of homes are vacant in Iowa, a sign of a strong economy and stability for the Hawkeye State. And, getting from home to work is a breeze with a median drive time of only 19 minutes. According to this report, things aren’t really all that peachy in the south as Mississippi, Florida and Alabama are ranked as the top three worst states to live in America.
