Donna Reed Foundation Bringing Political History To Life

With the Iowa caucus bringing their entire nation’s focus to politics, the Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts in Denison has decided to frame politics with an historical perspective for its 2015/16 American Icon Series. This is the strongest, most unique American Icon Series yet, said coordinator, Tim Tracy. The Living Rushmore Program will be the first time this production will be shown in Iowa and travel would be required to Missouri or Oklahoma to see the Mark Twain Will Rogers events. The series, titled “Politics As Usual-Historically Speaking,” will feature Doug Watson as Will Rogers in the first performance on Oct. 24. 2016 opens with the “Living Rushmore” feature on Jan. 30. In February, a panel of Iowa journalists and political analysts will discuss current issues in “2016 Iowa Caucuses—What Just Happened?” And on March 12, Jim Waddell will bring Mark Twain to life. Tickets for each event are $20 and can be purchased by contacting the Donna Reed Theater in Denison at 263-3334.
