Construction Considered On High Ridge Road

The City of Carroll is working to schedule a major road resurfacing project for High Ridge Road that will include storm sewer construction, patching and hot mix asphalt overlay on a section of High Ridge from 12th to 18th Street. Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel said that there is a portion of the project eligible for state and federal aid.

In addition, Krauel said they would be looking to incorporate sump-pump drainage into the storm sewer construction to help alleviate a green algae problem that arises when sump use is heavy and results in standing water along the sides of High Ridge Road. The anticipated project schedule would open letting in March of next year, with construction estimated to start and be completed in 2016. The project will be charged to the fiscal year 2017 budget. Krauel added DOT regulations allow for a longer development process that will help contractors with being able to provide solid scheduling start dates after the letting.

JEO Consulting Group has provided the city of Carroll with preliminary estimates on the approximately 4,600 feet of improvements at a total estimated $193,600 in costs.
