City staff members have reviewed the lighting at City Hall and determined there are many light bulbs and fixtures throughout the Police Department, city offices and library that would qualify for the MidAmerican Energy 70 percent rebate program. City Clerk and Finance Director Laura Schaefer said the savings from the rebate program would add up quickly.
She added the rebate amount could be even greater as they anticipate city staff will be installing the new fixtures and labor costs are eligible for inclusion in the rebate program. In addition, savings will be realized through use of the new products.
This expense is not in the current fiscal year’s budget, but Schaefer said it will be presented in an upcoming budget amendment for review by the Carroll City Council.
