Certified enrollment shows increase of students at CCSD for 2015/16

Certified enrollment numbers at Carroll Community Schools increased for the 2015-2016 school year. 1,718.21 students were certified at CCSD which is up by a head-count of 26.93 students from last year’s number of 1,691.28. Superintendent Rob Cordes explains how the numbers are calculated.

A breakdown reveals that 82.70 students opted to open-enroll out of the district this year; which is up 17.10 students from last year. Cordes has a theory as to why.

However, the number of students open enrolling into the district for 2015 almost cancels out that loss as there were 82.40 who chose to attend classes in Carroll. Cordes says this is the first time he’s seen those two numbers so close. The preschool program is currently serving 182 kids who are counted as .5 students per pupil equaling 91.00 students served by the district. In addition to submitting enrollment numbers by deadline Cordes stressed having an accurate student count is also extremely important for the district.

He adds that there are two important numbers when it comes to enrollment: the number of students certified and the number of students served, and that’s because the district will receive money based on the number of students they serve.
