Carroll Cares Toy Drive Entering Last Week For Donations

The First United Methodist Church in Carroll is sponsoring the Carroll Cares toy drive for local youngsters this holiday, one which volunteer, Sara Anderson, says has gone under another name for many past holiday seasons.

The drive will only be going on for eight more days and Anderson says that she is expecting Community Opportunities and the Family Resource Center to come and pick out what they need on Dec. 9 and then have the toys distributed by Dec. 11. At this time, she said, they have a lot of dolls, stuffed animals, computer games and a couple of bicycles, but they are still short of their goal and short on gifts for one particular demographic.

Anderson, who has lived in Carroll her whole life says that she knows what a loving and caring community Carroll is and that they will have no trouble meeting their goal, but she has been surprised at how the need has grown over the last several years. She added that if everybody just tries a little, they can pull together and make sure every child has a gift under the tree this Christmas.

To donate to Carroll Cares, new and unwrapped toys can be dropped at the First United Methodist Church between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. or you can call 712-830-2492 and they will come pick up your donation. If you don’t have time to shop, they can even pick up money, select a gift and let you know what they have purchased. For more information, contact Anderson at 830-2492 or call the church at 792-1122.
