The local group, “Concerned Iowans,” will again be hosting a peaceful protest tomorrow (Friday) along U.S. Highway 30 in Carroll. Attendees will gather on the north side of the Carroll County Courthouse along the sidewalk from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to voice their general displeasure with the nation’s direction. There is no central theme for the gathering, and the group indicated that everything from the Iran War and government corruption to Medicaid/Medicare cuts and veteran benefits are of concern. While the group does not have a stated party affiliation, previous protests have coincided with the “No Kings Day” protests and signs hoisted by those in attendance have aligned closely with the Democratic Party’s priorities. They last gathered on May 1 in conjunction with the national May Day of protests. The group is requesting food donations from participants and passersby, which will be donated to local food pantries.
