Multiple juveniles from the region are facing charges in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries in more than a half-dozen communities in the listening area. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, car break-ins have been reported in Carroll, Coon Rapids, Manning, Breda, Sac City, Lake View, and Auburn, and it is likely other instances have gone unreported or unnoticed. Authorities say the vehicle seen in the door-cam video associated with these burglaries has been seized, and at least two juveniles were taken into custody this (Friday) morning for their involvement. Law enforcement says the same car was used throughout the days-long spree, but the individuals involved, who ranged in age from 15 to 17, varied from day to day. The investigation is ongoing with charges pending, but officials are confident the break-ins should cease now that the suspects have been located. It is unclear at this time how many vehicle burglaries occurred or how much was stolen during the spree, and officials say the case serves as a reminder to always secure your property, be it cars or structures, when left unattended, even for short periods of time.
