The Carroll and Crawford County Democrats Central Committees are hosting a forum tomorrow (Wednesday) evening featuring the three candidates who have filed for their party’s nomination to run for Iowa’s 4th District Congressional seat. The program begins at 7 p.m. at 1730 Tap House on Highway 71 in Carroll. Candidates slated to appear include former State Rep. Dave Dawson of Lawton, retired nurse Stephanie Steiner of Sutherland, and stay-at-home-mother Ashley WolfTornabane of Storm Lake. The forum will allow potential primary voters to familiarize themselves with the candidates and ask questions of the Democrats’ potential nominee. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and again, the program begins at 7 p.m. The 4th District race is an open contest and viewed as an opportunity for Democrats to gain ground in the state’s historically most conservative district, as incumbent U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) opted to forgo a reelection bid to run for governor. Only one Republican remains in the GOP’s primary, and that is Chris McGowan of Sioux City. Iowa’s 2026 primaries are scheduled for Tuesday, June 2.
