Today (Friday), the Community Foundation of Carroll County (CFCC) announced over $200,000 in grants to local communities and non-profit organizations. The funding is allocated to counties from a portion of the state’s commercial gaming tax revenues. A quarter of the funds must be placed in a permanent endowment, and the remaining 75 percent is then awarded to community betterment efforts. Twenty-nine recipients were recognized during a presentation event at the Cupola in Carroll earlier this week. Notable awards include $30,000 to Endow Glidden to complete a shelter house project, $20,000 to Renew Covenant Church in Carroll for the creation of a community gathering space, and $14,000 to the Breda Recreation League to assist with lighting system upgrades at the Breda ballfield. A total of $200,825.75 was distributed in this latest round of awards, $51,150 of which was made possible through additional support from the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation and Wild Rose Casino. A list of the local recipients, their projects, and award totals is included below.
